How do I get the text of books into my computer?

The text of books can come from many sources. The text of some books can be found on the internet. Some are on CD-ROMS. These links just illustrate a few of the many sources of text that now exist. If you cannot obtain the text easily, you can scan a book using optical scanning equipment and software. If these options are not available, you can type the text into the computer yourself.

Of course, you need to be aware and follow all copyright laws and other restrictions that may apply. Copyright clearance is essential for preparing any work in braille.
